infinity mirror room. yayoi kusuma.
it’s a strange thing, having your mind tricked. to feel so incredibly vulnerable in unknown surrounds. engulfed in nothing but infinite lights but feeling equally as confined within the black room you’re locked into.
infinity mirror room provides a suitable mind trip for those seeking. a plank is presented, mirrored surfaces and a depth of water whose depth hardly threatening yet seems to be a fall to death. an absolute transition, perhaps reminiscent of purgatory. this infinite series of lights and the fear of the unknown, there’s a air of inspiration and excitement that really gets your mind into a place you never even knew existed.
i visited this exhibit about 3 years ago when it was in the MCA, if you ever get the chance, go.
